Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot the House of Louis Jadot has been producing exceptional Burgundy wines for the past 150 years. To this day they are renowned internationally for their superior red and white Burgundy wines. Known as one of the largest producers of estate Burgundies of the Cote d'Or, Louis Jadot is additionally one of the most celebrated exporters of premium Burgundies. Owning close to 140 acres of vineyards across an expanse of prestigious sites in Burgundy, totaling to around 24 various regions.

Coming from the southern part of Burgundy, Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages 2019 stands out among those produced by Louis Jadot. Its distinct climate and soil type is not the only distinguishing factor, the style of the Gamay grape gives Beaujolais its own identity. Up until 1395 Gamay was actually grown throughout all of Burgundy until the Duke of Burgundy banished it south to make room for Pinot Noir to inhabit all of the “superior” hillsides.

Fortunately, Gamay produces a much better wine in the granitic soils of Beaujolais compared to the limestone escarpments of the Côte d’Or. Beaujolais Villages 2019 is sourced, vinified and aged in stainless steel vats in order to keep its fruitiness and freshness before being put together for bottling. Its expressive aromas of strawberries, black cherries and spices reflect this process as well as the flavor with notes of fresh blueberry, hibiscus with grape-filled tannis and a hint of cocoa.

With weight and character, the finish lingers for a bit. Best served around 60°F, for pairing, the team at CWS suggests a light grilled chicken or poultry dish or mild cheese such as Brie and Camembert.
